Focus On The Needs Of Others

I was reading the latest blog today on Intrepid-LLC  and it got me thinking.  Even in today’s times of economic woes and worries, there are still great things happening out there.  Todd, from the Intrepid Group, is donating his time to an organization that donates used furniture to families and individuals who have escaped homelessness, battle HIV, or have fled domestic violence.   And there are lots of other stories of people helping people, even during difficult financial times.

I came across a story of 7 year old Caleb Crosby who lives a few towns over from me who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and has been given two-six months to live.  This little boy’s picture would melt your heart.  His family, in their desperation to save his life have found a hospital in Houston that has an experimental procedure that may save his life.  The community has been rallying around this family trying to raise the $100,000 needed for the procedure.  I have decided to take up his cause and will be sending a donation to the family along with some pretty intensive prayers.

I think it’s especially important to focus on what you can do to serve or help others in need rather than focus on what you don’t have at the moment.  If you don’t have money to give, give of your time.  One of the best ways to beat the economic blues is to help others when you can.  It is in giving that we truly receive.

Pick a cause to become involved in and watch both your attitude and your focus improve.  To donate to Chairish The Future 2009, contact Todd at todd@intrepid-llc.comor call 1-678.560.6912.  To help Caleb, you can send donations to Maine State Credit Union, FBO Caleb Crosby, 200 Capitol Street, Augusta, ME 04330. Attn: Cindy Barnes.  Caleb’s story can be found here.

Wishing you much happiness and success!
