Discipline Yourself For Success

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.” ~Jim Rohn

Will this be the year that you reach that ultimate goal?  If you’ve answered yes to that question, I can assume that you already have a plan of action in place!  You see, success is not going to just fall into your lap.  You need to have a well thought out plan written down with daily action steps included.  It is daily discipline that will determine your success, not just a sense of determination.

Here are a few of the strategies that I use when working towards a goal:

  • Spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day filling your mind with positive thoughts, either through meditation, reading, forums, etc.  This needs to be a daily habit.
  • Make a list of the 6 most important things that you need to accomplish each day, with #1 being the most important and at the top of you list.  No skipping around.  Do them in the order of importance.
  • Document your progress.  This helps you to see what needs improving and what is working.
  • Count your blessing each and every day.  This helps to ward off discouragement and keeps you focused on all that is good in your life.
  • Set target dates for completing long-term goals.

If you have not been successful in reaching your goals in the past, make this the year that you write your goals down.  That is by far the most important step.  Then make sure you take some action every day.  It doesn’t have to be huge tasks.  What’s important here is that you DO SOMETHING!  Get an accountability partner if that will help you.  Seek out successful people and learn from them.   There are many great books out there on goal setting, read a few.  The key here is discipline.  As Jim Rohn said, “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got”.   Make this your year for success!

Wishing you much happiness and success!
