Success Tip #5

Success Tip #5: Have An Attitude of Gratitude

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…. It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow”.  ~ Melodie Beattie

Gratitude works in interesting ways.  First, it helps you to focus on those things that are good in your life right now.  Success does not usually occur overnight so it is important that you appreciate all that you have in the meantime.  You will never experience true success if you cannot recognize the gifts you currently have.  Secondly, when you focused on the things that you are grateful for, it creates a feeling of peace, tranquility and happiness, thus your thoughts are more positive.  And it is this positive mindset that opens the door to more good things coming into your life.  It also helps you to deal more effectively with any setbacks or disappointments.

I have come to learn that when things don’t turn out the way that I had planned, it isn’t a sign of failure.  Quite the contrary.  Generally things turn out better than I had expected.  But sometimes it isn’t obvious right away.  So I stay focused on the positive things in my life and express my gratitude every day.  Two great books on gratitude are Thanks!: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier by Robert Emmons and Attitudes of Gratitude: How to Give and Receive Joy Everyday of Your Life by M. J. Ryan.

“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step towards achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” ~ Brian Tracy

Wishing you much happiness and success!
