Challenge Yourself

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” ~ Robert Collier

Are you yearning to reach some level of success?  If so, you have probably realized that the road to success is filled with challenges.  The key to success is taking on those challenges.  And the surest way to overcome a challenge is to take it one step at a time.

What challenges are facing you today?  What step can you take that will help you move through those challenges?  Sometimes it can be helpful to seek the counsel of others who have some experience with the challenge you’re facing.  Or you may find it beneficial to break it down into smaller pieces.  I personally prefer the latter because it makes the situation appear more doable.

Let’s say that you want to start-up a home-based business and you need $5000 to get it started.  The problem is you’re maxed out on credit and you don’t have the cash on hand.  Trying to come up with $5000 can seem a bit daunting so let’s break that down.  Let’s try to come up with $100.  What can you sell on ebay that will bring in $100?  Get it sold and put the money in the bank.  Alright, now let’s focus on the next $100.  Ask your family and friends for their returnable bottles.  If your family and friends are anything like mine, you’ll likely do better than $100.  Do you see where this is going?

Let’s take another example.  Let’s say you want to lose 10 pounds so that you can fit into last years bathing suit.  Dieting doesn’t usually work for you and fitting the gym into your busy schedule is difficult, so what can you do?  Start by parking your car at the farthest end of the parking lot when you do your shopping and step up your pace.  Skip desert or forgo seconds at dinner time.  Squeeze in 10 minutes of exercise 3 times a day.  I know you can find 10 minute spots during the day if you really try.  The key here is to take a challenge, break it down into smaller steps, seek the advice of others when applicable, and move forward.  Success is a matter of overcoming obstacles and reaching the finish line.
